We Speak Science Academy
Project title: Construction of 3D teaching tools
Activity description: In this activity, students of the We Speak Science Academy were asked to present the construction of 3D teaching tools, from their own homes during the pandemic. Students’ presentations included the following topics:
- Eukaryotic cells
- Prokaryotic cells
- The excretory system
- Interior & exterior structure of cells
- The specialized subunits, organelles
- The female reproductive system
Fig.1 Shown here is a 3D model of a prokaryotic cell made from a piece of polystyrene. Students were asked to explain its interior structure.
Fig.2 Shown here is a 3D model of a eukaryotic cell made of a carved and colored piece of polystyrene. Students were asked to count and point out the organelles.
Fig.3 Shown here is a 3D model of the excretory system. Students were asked to explain the functions of the kidney and the urinary bladder.
Fig.4 Shown here is the 3D model of a female’s reproductive system. Students were asked to identify the external organs that function in the reproduction of new offspring.
Fig.5 Shown here is the 3D model of telophase (1 out of 4 cell division phases). Students were asked to explain the process of cell division.
